Common name: stink bugs
A predatory stink bug, Alcaeorrhynchus grandis (Dallas)
Identifying characteristics:
-
Antennae, 5-segmented; beak, 4-segmented; tarsi, 3-segmented.

Body somewhat shield-shaped in dorsal view.
-
Triangular scutellum about as long as the corium of the front wings.
Other families in the superfamily Scutelleroidea either have the scutellum
larger than the pentatomids, or else the tibiae have numerous strong spines.
